Athletics Hall of Fame
William Burton '37 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989. He was a determined and programmed athlete who brought his skills to the football field. Burton was a natural leader, and was one of the primary reasons that Saint Anselm basketball beat Providence College during his time on the Hilltop
Burton continued his athletic quests upon graduating, placing second in the National Pentathlon in 1938 and third place in 1939. He also participated in the 1948 Olympics in London where he participated in field events and the discus throw.
