Athletics Hall of Fame
Karen McAvoy '85 was inducted into the 1992 Hall of Fame class for her efforts as a top performer in the early years of the Saint Anselm women's cross country program. Lettering all four seasons, she was Saint Anselm's top finisher in 75% of the team's races.
McAvoy's best season was as a freshman, and in 1981, she became Saint Anselm's first-ever participant in the NCAA Division II Championship. Her eighth-place finish in the NCAA Regionals was the highest ever for a Saint Anselm runner at the time of induction. A Dean's List student, McAvoy was twice the team's Most Valuable Player and team captain.
