Howe '35 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988. Howe was a strong and dependable athlete in both basketball and football. In basketball, his aggressive defensive skills and scoring ability equaled his love for the game, and his skill in playing it. In football, he was a brilliant runner, and when he was not gaining yardage himself he was called upon to clear the way for the other backs, and he was always equal to the cause.

After graduating from Saint Anselm he starred in basketball for the Knights of Columbus and in the 1935 New Hampshire Amateur Tournament.
