Athletics Hall of Fame
George F. Lee '36 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988. As a football quarterback, Lee was a versatile, clever and intelligent football player. The mark of excellence in any athlete is not only in the development and realization of his skills, but also in their ability to use those skills when it is appropriate.
He not only could use his own skills and knowledge of sports to become an excellent athlete and team player, but he also had the talent to pass on his knowledge to others and motivate them.
Lee became an assistant coach to Cleo O’Donnell while still a student, and continued his assistance for another year and a half after he graduated. He brought the same attitude of discipline to the game as Head Men's Basketball Coach on the Hilltop from 1934-38. It was this beginning that has evolved into the nationally-ranked modern day Saint Anselm men's basketball teams.
