Athletics Hall of Fame
Charles Quinn ‘42, a graduate of Saint Anselm and a special friend to both the college community and greater Manchester, was inducted to the Athletic Hall of Fame posthumously. Nominated to the Hall last spring, Quinn selflessly postponed his induction so that he could travel to France with his wife, Betty, who was receiving a French Legion of Honor award on behalf of her Army Nurses Corps unit that same weekend.
A storied four-year member of the football team at Saint Anselm, Quinn was on the last team in 1941 before the school temporarily dropped the sport due to World War II. Following his stint as a Marine fighter pilot in WWII, Quinn earned an MA in history and school administration from Boston University before serving in a myriad of roles over a 33-year career at Manchester West High School including Principal. Since 1980, Quinn served on the Board of Directors (now called the Anselmian Athletic Club) as he remained active in the athletic department.
