Thomas Birmingham '76 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991. He was a member of the men’s ice hockey team, playing in 91 out of a possible 93 games for the Hawks. The team posted a 53-39-1 record during his tenure as a player. Playing at the center position, he scored a career total of 47 goals and 61 assists for a total of 108 points.

He also served as the Head Coach of Saint Anselm men's ice hockey from 1979 to 1985, guiding the Hawks to 66 victories in his career behind the bench.
