Robert Roach '72, a two-time captain of the Hawks men's soccer team, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1982. A varsity soccer halfback for four years, he established seven Hilltop scoring records during his successful career while tallying 32 goals and 45 points.

His mark of 3.54 points per game in 1971 still stands as the all-time single-season record for Saint Anselm. He also remains the only student-athlete in team history to have scored five goals in a game, doing so against Franklin Pierce on Sept. 26, 1970.

Roach was selected to the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League All-Star Team in three consecutive years (1970, 1971, 1972) and captained the Hawks his senior year. Saint Anselm compiled a 29-21-2 record during Roach's career. Along with soccer, he also excelled as a starter for the baseball team at second base and in the outfield from 1970-72.
