James M. McCann '84 was the first-ever former student-athlete to be selected for the Athletics Hall of Fame in both baseball and men's ice hockey. A captain of both teams, McCann was considered one of the College's premier all-time defensemen on the ice. Playing in 70 out of a possible 75 games prior to an injury, he finished his career with 38 points.

McCann also was a standout on the baseball diamond and was a Second Team All-Northeast-8 Conference selection. During the 1982 season, he was the conference leader in both home runs and runs batted in. During his career, McCann batted .342 with eight home runs, 38 runs batted in and 55 hits.
