Keith Dickson has helmed the Hawks men’s basketball team since the 1986 season. During the 2001-02 season, Dickson became the all-time winningest men’s head coach in school history with his 305th career win. At the time of his induction, Dickson had a career mark of 327-176 (.650), which included a 211-103 (.672) record in league play.
At that time, his teams owned five Northeast-10 Conference Tournament titles and two other regular season titles. The Hawks advanced to the NE10 final four on 13 occasions with a 5-3 record in the championship game, earning a spot in nine NCAA Tournament appearances including an “Elite Eight” berth in the 1999-2000 season.
Entering his 34th season on the Hilltop in 2019-20, Dickson has an overall record of 643-334 (.658) and stands as the program's all-time record holder for coaching victories. Picking up his 600th victory on Nov. 26, 2017 against LIU Post, Dickson has logged the 13th most victories by any coach with at least 10 years in NCAA Division II (643) and is tied for the Northeast-10 Conference record for career coaching wins.
Most recently, Dickson piloted the Hawks to its second NCAA Division II East Region Championship in 2018-19. The Hawks toppled fifth-ranked Nova Southeastern on Mar. 27, 2019 and earned the program's first-ever trip to the Final Four. The program also picked up its highest-ever ranking in the national coaches' poll during the season, checking in as the No. 4 team in NCAA Division II on Nov. 21, 2018.
