Mission Statement
The Saint Anselm College Sports Medicine Department is committed to providing the highest quality medical care to every student-athlete (SA), regardless of gender, sport or scholarship status. The athletic training staff will work in conjunction with the clinical staff at Saint Anselm Student Health Services and the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center (NHOC) in Bedford, N.H. Our aim is to ensure that each SA is provided with the appropriate education, evaluation, treatment, and/or rehabilitation program for each situation. Our goal is to effectively manage each SA’s injury or illness so that they may safely return to physical activity with minimal time lost from their participation in sport.
We will strive to create a professional, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere in each of our athletic training facilities. We will maintain each of our athletic training facilities with the highest commitment to efficiency and cleanliness so that an appropriate healing environment is provided. We are committed to providing the most up-to-date treatment modalities, rehabilitation equipment possible.
The NCAA mandates that primary athletics health care providers, including Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC), have full unchallengeable autonomous authority to make medical decisions for the SA, including return-to-play decisions. By following NCAA and National Athletic Trainers Associations’ best practice guidelines, a diversified program of prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation will ensure the overall well-being of the student-athlete is the first priority, along with an improved quality of life and a safe return to athletic success.
