Ted Paulauskas was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He is the longest serving Director of Athletics in Saint Anselm history, leaving an indelible and lasting mark not only on the athletics program, but the College itself.

Paulauskas came to Saint Anselm in 1974 as athletics director and head men's basketball coach. Under his guidance, Saint Anselm experienced remarkable growth in its highly respected NCAA Division II athletic program and developed outdoor and indoor athletic facilities regarded as among the best in the region.

Most recently, he was the architect of the Hawks modern-day football program established in the late 1990's. Saint Anselm resumed intercollegiate football in the newly-constructed Grappone Stadium. Paulauskas has been responsible for the overall vision of the program and facilities, overseeing the myriad of details required for the successful launch of the program.

Paulauskas was head men's basketball coach of the Hawks for seven years, from 1974 to the 1980-81 season. As the Saint Anselm athletics program continued to expand, he gave up coaching to concentrate all of his energies to his role as Director of Athletics.

On the Hilltop, Paulauskas has overseen an enormous expansion of the athletics program during his tenure. His arrival at Saint Anselm coincided with the college's becoming fully co-educational in 1974 and he has been the catalyst in the institution or reinstitution of 10 sports programs, including seven women's sports.

He has been largely responsible for the creation of improvements of seven Saint Anselm athletics facilities, and founded the Anselmian Athletics Club and the Saint Anselm College Athletics Hall of Fame in 1980.

A native of Cherry Valley, Mass., he was a standout athlete at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, Mass. and at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass., where he was a three-time all-New England Division II basketball player. He graduated from Assumption in 1967 with degrees in History and French and later earned a Master's of Psychology and Counseling from Assumption 1974.

During his tenure, Paulauskas has been most instrumental in the development and advancement of intercollegiate athletics both in the New England region and nationally. He was much involved in the addition of Saint Anselm to the Northeast-10 (originally the NE-8) Conference, played a significant role in the creation of the Eastern Football Conference, and has served on numerous ECAC, National Association of Basketball Coaches and NCAA committees including the NCAA's Olympic Sports Committee, the Basketball Rules Committee, and the Committee on Financial Aid and Amateurism and others.

Above all of Paulauskas's professional accomplishments, he has always been known and admired for his commitment to his family and it is that commitment that showed in his dedication to Saint Anselm and in particular, its students and student-athletes.

Paulauskas is a member of the Saint John's (Shrewsbury) High School Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Assumption College Hall of Fame in 1994. He completed a hat trick of sorts as he was proudly inducted to the Saint Anselm Athletics Hall of Fame.
