Athletics Hall of Fame
Albert Grenert, former head coach of the Saint Anselm men's basketball team, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1980 for his inspiring contributions to the college's program. Saint Anselm has since honored Grenert as a pioneer of Division II basketball by naming the court in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium after him.
A member of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame, Grenert coached the Hawks beginning in the 1949-50 season and ended his historic era with the 1970-71 season. In his 22 years as head coach, he collected a 304-172 record, posting a .639 winning percentage. Grenert's ability to shape his players for success is solidified by the 20-plus Athletics Hall of Fame members he coached during his tenure.
