Henry Rae '87 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He was a midfielder for the Hawks men’s soccer team during the great seasons of the mid-1980's, and was well known for his skill, dedication, discipline and agility.

Head Coach Ed Cannon, who had served as coach of the program for more than 25 years, considers Rae one of the very best men's soccer players to ever pull on a Saint Anselm jersey. A deft passer, a precise striker, and a shrewd tactician, Rae spans the ages as one of the greatest midfielders in Saint Anselm history.

Rae showed his dedication to the program playing in 73 out of a possible 73 possible games, setting a new program longevity record. When he graduated, he stood seventh all-time in goals scored (15), fifth all-time in career points (59), ninth all-time for most points in a season (25) and to this day still stands as the all-time leader in career assists with 29.

After earning Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 1983, he went on to earn three straight First Team All-Conference Honors. He was a three-time All-New England Player and a three-time New England Intercollegiate Soccer League All-Star.

The impact Rae had on his teammates was also clear. With Rae patrolling the midfield, Saint Anselm's golden era of the mid-1980's was in its prime.

Rae-guided teams posted a four year record of 43-23-6, at the time the greatest four year period in Saint Anselm men's soccer history. Saint Anselm posted a conference record of 24-4-2 and won three consecutive conference championships and the Hawks also made their first ECAC Division II Tournament appearance in Rae's junior year.

Selected captain his senior year, Rae was posthumously inducted as the sixth men's soccer inductee in Hall of Fame history.
