Clifton Moore ’79 was a regular starter for the Hawks men’s soccer program, patrolling the midfield and backfield for Saint Anselm in the days when Division I opponents were a member of Saint Anselm’s always-challenging Division II schedule.

He made an immediate impact on the program, playing in every game as a freshman and finishing as the team’s top scorer with 14 points. In four seasons, he finished among the top-three scorers three times and registered double figures in season points three times as well.

During Moore’s tenure, Saint Anselm posted two-straight winning seasons (1977 and 1978), which included one of the Hawks' most memorable victories in its history, a 2-1 upset of the University of New Hampshire on Oct. 11, 1978.

He was selected to the All-New England team as an Honorable Mention both his freshman and sophomore years and earned Second Team All-New England his senior year. He was also selected to play in the prestigious New England Intercollegiate All Star game in both 1977 and again in 1978.

At the time of his graduation, his 61 career points ranked him second all-time in program history, while his 11 goals ranked fourth and his 19 assists ranked first. At the time of induction, he remained in the top 20 all-time career points and goals and in the top five all-time for career assists.
