Michael Gavin '76, a member of the 1984 Hall of Fame class, played four seasons of outstanding ice hockey at Saint Anselm. Through his play as a winger, he scored over 200 points, placing himself high on the all-time scoring list. His 117 career assists remains atop the Saint Anselm record book. At the time of induction, he ranked fifth in the all-time season records with 35 assists in 1971-72, sixth and 13th in points with 57 in 1971-72 and 51 in 1974-75 respectively, and second in hat tricks with 10.

Gavin's four years culminated with his senior team appearing in the ECAC Division II playoff for the third time in his career. A regular name on the ECAC All-East weekly teams, Gavin was twice named to the ECAC All-Star squad. His senior year, he was a New England Hockey Writers All-Star.
