Joseph Couture '80 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1989 after a successful career as a member of the Hawks men's soccer team. One of the most prolific strikers in Saint Anselm history, Couture scored 44 goals and finished his tenure on the Hilltop with 99 career points, a record that stood until the late 1990's. As of 2020, he ranks second all-time in career point and goal scoring,
The first student-athlete in team history to lead the Hawks in point and goal scoring for four consecutive seasons, he was named team captain in 1979, a season after earning New England Intercollegiate All-Star honors. In total, he was a two-time All-New England selection.
