Athletics Hall of Fame
Edmund Hartung '37 was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1988. He was a member of the prestigious 1936 football team. He was recognized by sports writers as one of the hardest working and most dependable players who ever played for the Saint Anselm squad. Hartung was a bulldog on both the offensive and defensive lines who was described by his teammates as powerful, eager and with the heart and soul of a complete athletic talent who was the cornerstone of a powerful Saint Anselm line.
Ed continued to bring honor to his Alma Mater after his graduation in his service with the United States Air Force from 1941-1967 as a decorated Colonel and as a minority counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Appropriations.
