Athletics Hall of Fame
Archie Hoffman '39 was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997 for his stellar football career. During his three years, Hoffman's team posted a 17-2-2 record. His athletic contributions were rewarded by the nation's press when he was selected as an Associated Press Little All-American twice.
Hoffman became a standout on a star-studded team that in 1936 played one of the most memorable games in the history of the college, tying Holy Cross, 0-0. With the help of Hoffman, the successful 1936 team compiled a 6-0-1 record and went through the entire season without giving up a touchdown. Two years later, Hoffman contributed to an even greater success as the Hawks tied undefeated Boston College.
