NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Freshman Scarlett Flint was named the Northeast 10 Rookie of the Week after leading the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team with three goals and six points during an undefeated week, the league announced Monday.
Flint and the Hawks battled Jefferson to a 2-2 draw on Friday before defeating Wilmington University, 3-0, on Sunday to finish the week 1-0-1 and improve to 2-0-1 overall.
The freshman scored her first collegiate goal in Friday's draw against Jefferson, finding the back of the net for the game-tying goal to help the Hawks erase a two-goal deficit and earn the 2-2 draw. She followed with her first career multi-goal performance on Sunday, scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes against Wilmington. Her first tally proved to be the game-winner in the Hawks' 3-0 victory.
Flint finished Sunday's win with season highs of four shots and three shots on goal. Through the first three games of her collegiate career, she leads the Hawks with three goals and is tied for the team lead with six points. She has registered eight shots, including five on goal, and has scored one game-winning goal.
Saint Anselm has opened the season unbeaten at 2-0-1, outscoring its opponents 10-3 while holding a 61-27 advantage in shots through three contests.
Flint and the Hawks remain at home on Friday, Sept. 11, hosting Daemen University (N.Y.) at Melucci Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
