Women’s Soccer Falls to Queens (N.Y.) on Late Goal

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Queens College on Wednesday evening at Knights Field, with the host Knights finding the game's lone goal in the 78th minute. The Hawks move to 3-1-1 on the season following the non-conference setback.

How it Happened
Saint Anselm generated the game's first shot in the 42nd minute while earning four corner kicks in the opening half. The Hawks limited Queens as the Knights failed to record a shot as the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

The first shot on goal came in the 50th minute from Botta, followed by three more shots on goal from the Hawks in the next 10 minutes of action.

Queens got its first shot on the board in the 59th minute but it was turned away by Warner.

Queens produced five shots after the break, but Saint Anselm continued to create opportunities with seven total second-half shots.

The Knights broke through in the 77th minute when Ashley Kieblesz scored her eighth goal of the season off an assist from Kayla Camacho, giving Queens a 1-0 advantage.

The Hawks continued to pressure late but could not find the equalizer, as the Queens goalkeeper made two saves in the final 13 minutes of action.
