NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Sophomore
Will Davies earned his first career Northeast 10 Conference weekly honor as he was named Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Davies becomes the third Hawk this season to claim an NE10 weekly award, as freshman
Edward Onyia has earned two Rookie of the Week honors, while classmate
Hayden Johns picked up one.
Davies has been a steady presence in the Hawks' lineup, starting in all 12 games after returning as one of just three players from last season's squad. In 12 starts, Davies is averaging 11.9 points, 7.5 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 33.6 minutes per game.
Davies has helped guide the Hawks to a 9-3 record and a 2-0 start to NE10 conference play. In Sunday's 86-79 win over No. 22 Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y., Davies scored a career-high 25 points to go with eight assists and two blocked shots.
He shot 11-15 from the field, playing all 40 minutes in the win. This marked Davies' second game of the season with at least 20 points and his seventh game in double-figures. He has also tallied at least eight assists in seven games this season. His 7.5 assists per contest lead the NE10 and are tied for the top spot in all of NCAA Division II.
The Hawks' win over the Panthers on Sunday marked the first over a ranked opponent since March 1, 2023, when Saint Anselm defeated No. 15/24 Bentley University in the NE10 semifinals.
Davies and the first-place Hawks host Bentley University (8-4, 1-2 NE10) at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
