How it Happened

Sophomore Paulis Rapolis scored on the first possession of the game, and Ristic scored on the following one as the Hawks led 4-0. The game remained close with three ties, but Saint Anselm never gave up the lead, eventually going ahead by seven, 27-20, fueled by nine points from Ristic.

Adelphi responded with an 11-2 run, tying the game for the fourth time, 29-29, before taking their first lead of the game at 31-29. Davies got his offense going, scoring 10 of the next 12 points for the Hawks, but the Panthers continued to answer every score as the two teams went into the half tied up at 39-39.

Adelphi scored the first four points of the half to take its largest lead of the game, 43-39, but Medalie came out firing with a pair of threes to reclaim the lead, 45-43. Ristic drilled a corner three to give Saint Anselm its largest lead of the game, 59-50, as the Hawks made four consecutive shots during their run.

Saint Anselm took its first double-digit lead of the game, 69-58, on a Davies pull-up jumper, but the Panthers responded again, scoring the next seven points to make it a four-point game, 69-65. The Hawks tallied the next six points to go back up by 10, 75-65, and would lead the rest of the way to secure the win, 86-79.
