Year in Review: 2021 in Saint Anselm Athletics

Saint Anselm returned to the fields, courts and ice in 2021 after an uncertain second half of 2020. Despite the challenging times that we all live in, the College's student-athletes demonstrated tremendous resiliency on the playing surfaces and in the classroom.

After the final whistle of the men's lacrosse team's 15-6 victory at Georgian Court on Wednesday, Mar. 11, 2020, the Hawks did not return to intercollegiate action until the Saint Anselm baseball team earned a 4-2 victory over American International on Saturday, Mar. 13 of this year.

Since the baseball team made the trek down to the New England Baseball Complex that chilly Saturday morning, Saint Anselm student-athletes have since made the move back to full intercollegiate play across all of the varsity sports teams.

As we head into the New Year, let's look back upon the year that was on the Hilltop and reminisce about our successes that were solely driven by the perseverance of our coaches, athletics support staff and the student-athletes.

Saint Anselm receives its fifth Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence

The Hawks were one of 43 NCAA Division II institutions to claim the Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence. To be eligible, institutions need to have an Academic Success Rate of 90% or greater.

Saint Anselm collected the award for the fifth time and posted an institutional record of 94%. Saint Anselm ranked fourth in both federal graduation rate (81%) and academic success rate (94%), when compared to other Northeast-10 Conference colleges and universities. Nationally, the Hawks were 13th in federal graduation rate.

The institution's record-setting academic success rate was helped by perfect scores of 100% from men's golf, women's basketball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, softball and women's cross country. Out of the 16 varsity sports programs eligible for the report, 14 of those had an ASR over 90%.
