MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore first baseman George Slauson of the Saint Anselm College baseball team was selected as a D2 Baseball Third Team All-American, the organization announced earlier this week.
The sophomore adds another prestigious accolade to an already impressive list of postseason honors that includes selections as the Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year, D2CCA East Region Player of the Year, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Player of the Year, ABCA/Rawlings East Region Position Player of the Year, along with multiple All-America distinctions.
The first baseman turned in a dominant campaign at the plate, slashing .446/.535/.790 while leading the Hawks offensively throughout the season. Slauson finished the year with 69 RBI, 44 runs scored, 15 doubles, and 13 home runs while reaching base safely in 40 of the team's 45 contests. He also recorded 22 multi-hit games and posted a .994 fielding percentage with 299 putouts at first base.
Among all NCAA Division II student-athletes, Slauson ranked sixth nationally in batting average and seventh in RBI per game. His 69 RBI tied the Saint Anselm single-season program record, while he finished second in school history in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and total bases. Slauson also ranked third in single-season program history in hits and home runs and sixth in doubles.
Earlier this postseason, Slauson was recognized as a Third Team All-American by both the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). He also earned ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-America honors after being named the East Region Position Player of the Year.
Slauson's standout season helped guide the Hawks to one of their most successful campaigns in recent memory as Saint Anselm secured the No. 3 seed in the NE10 Championship and hosted a conference postseason contest for the first time in more than a decade.
