JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Sophomore Brandon Vitarisi represented the Saint Anselm College men's golf team as an individual competitor during the opening round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional at Sunnehanna Country Club on Thursday.
 
Competing on the par-70, 7,029-yard course against the region's top golfers, Vitarisi carded a first-round score of 76 (+6). He opened the day with a 39 on the front nine before improving with a two-over 37 on the back nine. On the individual leaderboard, Vitarisi is currently in a tie for 63rd place out of 126 golfers.

How it Happened:

• Vitarisi recorded pars on 10 holes during the round, including six on the front nine.
• He eagled the par-5 11th hole to highlight his afternoon and help spark a steadier closing stretch.
• After making the turn at four-over par, Vitarisi bounced back to play the back nine at just two-over.
• The sophomore closed the round with pars on each of the final two holes.

Vitarisi returns to Sunnehanna Country Club on Friday with his tee time set for 1:20 p.m. for the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional.
