CANDIA, N.H. — The Saint Anselm men's golf team hosted the first of two rounds of the Hawk Invitational at Candia Woods Golf Links on Wednesday.
The Hawks had three groups compete on the par-71, 6,550-yard course, with their B group leading a field of seven teams, combining to shoot a 298 (+14). Felician ranked second, shooting a 299 (+15), followed by Assumption in third at 302 (+18), Franklin Pierce in fourth at 304 (+20), Bentley in fifth with 307 strokes (+23), Saint Anselm's A group in sixth with 309 strokes (+25), and Saint Anselm's C group in seventh, shooting a 325 (+41).
How it Happened:
- Freshman Aidan Finn had the best individual round of the day for Saint Anselm's B group, sitting two strokes off the lead, shooting a 73 (+2). Finn is tied for third place and leads a field of 40 competitors with four birdies.
- Senior Anthony Picano, who was also on the Hawks B squad, is tied for seventh place after the first round, shooting a 75 (+4) with a pair of birdies.
- Junior Brady Warren, freshman Carl Sirrianna, and sophomore Nick Nowak also shot 75s (+4) as Sirrianna birdied three holes, Nowak birdied two, and Warren finished with one as the trio sits in a tie for seventh place.
- Four Hawks finished at +7 with 78 strokes, including sophomores Brandon Vitarisi, Riley Reardon, Jack Murray, and freshman James Smith. Vitarisi had two birdies while the other three each had one.
- Senior Chris O'Grady shot a 79 (+8) and classmate Peter Torres finished with 80 strokes (+9), tied with freshman Pat Clair, who also shot an 80.
- Sophomore Charles Conway and senior Connor Powers rounded out the Hawks with scores of +11 and +12.
