NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Following a 2-0 week against intra-state conference foes, sophomore Aiko Fujita and freshman Kendall Herrick of the No. 20 nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team were named the Goaltender and Rookie of the Northeast 10 Conference, respectively, the NE10 announced Monday afternoon.
Fujita reached the 100 career saves milestone in Wednesday's 20-8 win over Southern New Hampshire University, making 11 stops in the victory, before making six saves in a Saturday victory at Franklin Pierce University as she backstopped the Hawks to a 2-0 week in road clashes. The Goaltender of the Week selection marked the first of her career.
Herrick had a stellar week, scoring nine goals on 13 shots along with two assists for an 11-point showing. She also finished the week with three draw controls and two caused turnovers. In Wednesday's 20-8 win at SNHU, the freshman poured in a career-high five goals. Saturday, Herrick had four goals to help the Hawks fend off the Ravens. This is the fourth Rookie of the Week nod for Herrick this season.
Fujita, Herrick, and the Hawks (9-4, 4-2 NE10) will play host to Assumption University (3-8, 2-4 NE10) on Wednesday, April 15. The opening draw from Grappone Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
