How it Happened
After Franklin Pierce grabbed a 2-1 lead midway through the opening quarter, the Hawks answered with a 3-0 burst over the final 5:42 of the frame. Herrick scored twice during the run before McDermod buried a late tally to send Saint Anselm into the second quarter ahead, 4-2.
The momentum carried into the second stanza as Saint Anselm outscored the Ravens 6-1 in the period. Goals from Spinale, Rowley, Hill, and McDermod helped the Hawks build a commanding 10-3 cushion by halftime.
Franklin Pierce attempted to chip away in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 11-6 following a man-up tally with 6:33 to play. The Hawks had the immediate answer once again, as Herrick converted off a Hill assist less than three minutes later to restore the six-goal margin entering the fourth.
The Ravens got as close as five at 14-9 with 4:35 remaining in regulation, but senior Kyra O'Connell put the finishing touches on the win with a goal at the 1:33 mark to seal the 15-9 final.
