MANCHESTER, N.H. – The No. 20 Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team was dealt a 14-11 loss by Assumption University at Grappone Stadium on Wednesday night in Northeast 10 Conference play.

How it Happened
Back-to-back goals from Rowley in a span of 1:43 put the Hawks up by a score of 2-1 in the opening 5:47 of play. Assumption then recorded the final three goals of the first quarter, two on man-up opportunities, to take a 4-2 advantage into the second frame.
The Hawks scored 1:12 into the second to cut their deficit to one goal, as O'Connell buried a feed from Fruci for a man-up goal.
Assumption went on to score six consecutive goals. The Greyhounds posted five of these goals in the second quarter to take a 9-3 lead into the half.
Trailing 10-3 early in the second half, Saint Anselm rattled off two goals in a span of 1:01 as McDermod and Hill recorded unassisted tallies to make it 10-5 with 11:55 to play in the third.
Assumption scored the next goal to regain the Greyhounds' six-goal lead, but Herrick struck for her first goal of the contest, coming on a man-up opportunity, to make it 11-6 with 7:48 left in the frame.
A Greyhounds' goal with 6:29 to play in the third marked the last of the quarter as the visitors held a six-goal advantage heading into the final 15 minutes of regulation.
Saint Anselm cut its deficit to four goals with two tallies in the opening two minutes of the fourth to make it 12-8. After an Assumption rebuttal, Davis scored her second straight goal, this time on a free-position attempt while a man-up, to make it 13-9 with 8:28 to play.
The lead grew back to five goals as Assumption found the back of the net on a free-position attempt with 5:43 left to go before McDermod scored with 5:03 as the deficit was again cut to four.
McDermod scored the game's final goal with under a minute to play, coming on a free-position attempt, as the Hawks' comeback bid fell short.

The Hawks (9-5, 4-3 NE10) will host Southern Connecticut State University 11-3 (5-2 NE10) in an NE10 clash at Grappone Stadium on Saturday, April 18. The opening draw is set for noon.
