Men’s Golf Finishes First Event of the Spring at Florida Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Saint Anselm men's golf team competed in the second and final round of the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational hosted by the Hawks at Eagle Creek Golf Club on Tuesday.
 
The Hawks had three groups compete on the par-72, 6,602-yard course, led by their A group, which posted a team total of 634 (+58) after shooting a 324 (+36) on Tuesday, placing seventh. Adelphi won the two-day event, finishing with an impressive total of 565 (-11) out of a field of 10 teams.
 
Bentley finished in second place at +10, shooting five-over-par (293) both days. Assumption came in third, Wilmington (Del.) placed fourth, Southern New Hampshire finished fifth, and Franklin Pierce placed eighth, while the Hawks' two other groups placed ninth and 10th down in Orlando.

How it Happened:
  • Sophomore Brandon Vitarisi led the Hawks as he finished 21st out of 59 golfers, totaling 152 strokes (+8) over the two days. He had two birdies on Tuesday as he shot a 78 (+6).
  • Leading the Hawks' B group was sophomore Nick Nowak, who shot a team-best 77 (+5) on Tuesday, finishing at +12 for the week with 156 strokes, placing 28th.
  • Freshman Pat Clair came in 31st place, tallying an 80 (+8) on Tuesday, combining to go 14-over-par for the week.
  • Freshman James Smith placed 37th, totaling 160 strokes (+16), shooting an 81 (+9) on the second day of competition.
  • Junior Brady Warren and sophomores Riley Reardon and Jack Murray all finished at +17, tying for 39th with 161 strokes this week.
