Women’s Golf Finishes Runner-Up at Vulcan Invitational

BELLE VERNON, Pa. — A pair of freshmen led the pack for the Saint Anselm women's golf team as the Hawks placed second out of five teams, finishing with their second-best round in program history on the final day of the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (PA) University at the Cedarbrook Golf Course.
 
After having its best round as a team yesterday (324; +40), Saint Anselm finished with a 328 (+44) on Tuesday for a total of 652 (+84), placing second overall behind Millersville (PA), who won the two-day tournament with 650 strokes (+82). The host Vulcans rounded out the top three at +108.

How it Happened
  • First-years Carley Iannetta and Isabella Scioletti had stellar rounds on Tuesday, matching classmate Bianca Ligotti's total from a day ago, shooting 79s (+8).
  • Iannetta and Scioletti both shot 82s yesterday, tying for fifth place overall at +19 to lead the Hawks.
  • Ligotti came in a tie for eighth place, posting a second-round score of 84 (+13), finishing the weekend at +19 after her impressive first round yesterday.
  • Senior Lydia Tufts rounded out the top four finishers for the Hawks on Tuesday, shooting an 86 (+15) and placing 12th overall at +25.

The Saint Anselm women's golf team will host the Northeast 10 Championships next week at the Stonebridge Country Club in Goffstown, with the first round of play beginning on Tuesday, September 30.
