CONCORD, N.H. — The Saint Anselm men's golf team competed in the third and final round of the Granite State Opener hosted by Southern New Hampshire University at Beaver Meadow Golf Course on Tuesday, placing sixth overall out of 10 teams.
After sitting in a tie for eighth place after the first two rounds of action on the Par-72, 6,364-yard course yesterday, the Hawks climbed two spots in the rankings after a pair of Hawks shot under par today.
As a team, Saint Anselm improved on their 299 (+11) first round and 294 (+6) second round, to shoot 285 (-3) in Tuesday's third round, the second-best round of the day behind SNHU (-4). Adelphi would hold on to win the two-day tournament, shooting a -19 as a team for the weekend, while the Hawks combined for a +14 to place sixth.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Brandon Vitarisi led the Hawks in the individual rankings, placing 11th, finishing the weekend at even, shooting one under par with an eagle and two birdies on Tuesday.
- Junior Brady Warren shot a 216 (+3) over the course of the three rounds, shooting a 73 (+1) in today's final round with his third eagle of the week, tying for 19th place. His three eagles led all golfers over three rounds of competition.
- Sophomore Riley Reardon had the second-best round of all 63 golfers on Tuesday, shooting a 69 (-3), the best individual round of the tournament for the Hawks, finishing at three over par and placing 19th overall.
- Freshman James Smith had his best round of the weekend with three birdies en route to a 72 (E) as he placed 35th, finishing eight over par after 54 holes.
