Brady Warren recorded two eagles and sophomore
Brandon Vitarisi finished one stroke over par on Monday as the Saint Anselm men's golf team played two rounds at the Granite State Opener hosted by Southern New Hampshire University at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
The Hawks played two rounds, totaling 36 holes on the Par-72, 6,364-yard course in the state's capital. The average score on the day was a 74.16 (+2) out of 63 golfers competing on Monday. Adelphi topped the team standings as the Panthers' four golfers combined to shoot 17-under par (559).
Saint Anselm found itself in a tie for eighth place, finishing the day at +17, shooting a combined 299 (+11) in the first round before improving in the second round, shooting a 294 (+6) as a team.
How it Happened
- Vitarisi is currently leading the Hawks as he is in 17th place, finishing the day one over par, shooting a 71 (-1) with two birdies and an eagle in the first round before notching three birdies and shooting a 74 (+2) in the second.
- Warren shot a 72 (E) and a 74 (+2) in the two rounds, ranking 22nd overall despite leading the field with two eagles, one in each round.
- Sophomore Riley Reardon is in 36th place, shooting a 78 (+6) in the opening round of play before coming back with a strong second round, finishing with four birdies in the frame en route to a 72 (E).
- Sophomore Jack Murray and freshman James Smith rounded out the top performers for the Hawks, both finding themselves eight strokes over par at the end of two rounds. Smith's day was highlighted by three straight birdies in the second on holes 10, 11, and 12.
