MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College women's golf head coach
Tara Watt won her fourth New Hampshire Golf Association Women's Mid-Amateur Championship at Lochmere Golf & Country Club, pulling away on the second day to win the tournament by six strokes.
After missing the past two Mid-Amateur Championships due to back surgery, Watt made her return to competitive golf with a splash, posting rounds of 76 and 75 on the Par-72, 5,160-yard course, finishing at 7-over-par 151 to win the two-day event for the fourth time.
"It feels amazing," Watt said after the win. "Having back surgery two years ago, I didn't know what my future looked like for golf, so being back here, it's awesome. To be in contention and winning, I'm speechless."
Watt led all competitors with eight birdies, tallying five during the first round of action on Wednesday before sinking three on Thursday en route to her victory. Just one stroke separated Watt from the field after the first day as she shot a 76 (+4). Despite the narrow lead after the first round, her second-round score of 75 (+3) held off any chance of the competition making a comeback.
This was her fourth NHGA Mid-Amateur title (2020, 2021, 2022, 2025), and she has also won the NH Women's Golf Association State Championship twice (2011 and 2020) as she continues to fill up her trophy case as an amateur golfer in the Granite State. She currently golfs out of the Hawks' home course, Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, and sits at a 0.8 handicap.
