HOPKINTON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College cross country teams competed in the NCAA Division II East Region Championship at Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Saturday afternoon.
The women's team placed seventh out of 16 teams in the 6K and ranked second among Northeast 10 Conference teams, while the men's team finished 13
th out of 17 teams in the 10K.
Women's Results
In a field of 116 runners, senior
Cara Morris led the way for the Hawks, finishing 28th at 23:45.97, improving on her 68th-place finish and time from last year's championship, where she placed 68th at 24:36.9. Freshman
Jill Olson followed closely, coming in 29th at 23:53.26 with a personal best in her championship debut.
Freshman
Gretchen Uthoff rounded out the Hawks' top three, placing 51st with a personal best time of 24:49.09. Freshman
Brenna Woodbury also recorded a personal best, finishing 52nd in 24:59.94.
The personal records continued with junior
Abby Bemis, who placed 56th in 25:05.38. Senior
Grace Perley improved on her standing from last year, finishing 67th at 25:41.91, while senior
Sophia Olsen rounded out the lineup at 82nd at 26:25.40.
Men's Results
In a field of 112 runners, senior
Christian Wetzel led the men's team with a 44th-place finish and a time of 34:06.56. Sophomore
Michael Katsikis set a personal best, placing 59th in 34:55.47, while senior
Neil Harrington was close behind in 63rd at 35:05.70.
Senior
Andrew Keene finished 75th in 35:39.07, just ahead of freshman
Gavin Carey, who placed 76th with a time of 35:45.02. Sophomore
Luke Manzi ran a personal best, 36:27.71, to finish 81st, and senior
Brandon LeBlanc capped off the Hawks' efforts with a personal-best 38:06.88, placing 98th overall.
