Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Both Win 44th Annual Shacklette Invitational

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team won the 44th annual Philip J. Shacklette Invitational with 22 points, led by sophomore Billy Oldham, who placed second with a time of 15:14.4 in the five-kilometer race. The women's squad also won with 27 points, led by sophomore Brenna Woodbury, who came in third place with a time of 12:25.4 in the three-kilometer race.
 
The Hawks defeated cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire University, which scored 37 points in Saturday's dual meet. This is the first win for the Hawks men's squad in the Shacklette since 1993, while the women won their second consecutive race on the Hilltop, besting the Penmen, who scored 30 points.
 
MEN'S RESULTS
  • Junior Michael Katsikis placed second for the Hawks with a time of 15:52.2, while freshman Matthew Motherway was close behind in his first collegiate race, placing fourth with a time of 15:55.6.
  • Freshman Jacob Silva came in fifth, crossing the finish line at 16:14.2, with classmate Liam Sweeney placing eighth at 16:33.3 in their debuts for the Hawks.
  • Sophomore Nolan Finn placed ninth, clocking in at 16:38.9, followed by junior Luke Manzi, who rounded out the top-10 with a time of 16:40.3.
  • Seniors Diego Infante and Clifford Teixeira placed 12th and 14th with times of 16:52.8 and 17:09.3, with sophomore Gavin Carey finishing between the two at 16:56.6.
  • Sophomore Quinn Johnson was the final finisher for the Hawks at 17:42.9 in 17th place.

  • The Saint Anselm cross country team is back in action on Saturday, September 19, on the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational hosted by the Corsairs in Dartmouth, Mass.
