MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team is set to battle nationally-regarded Southern New Hampshire and Le Moyne College in non-conference action.
The Hawks will meet the Penmen in a non-league game on Thursday, Mar. 23 from Franklin Pierce University before Saint Anselm meets Le Moyne in a non-conference doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 24 from the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. starting at 11 a.m.

The Hawks dropped a non-league twinbill to The College of Saint Rose by 8-1 and 9-4 scores on Mar. 18. Saint Anselm was scheduled to play a second doubleheader against the Golden Knights but the pair of games was postponed due to low temperatures. Following the doubleheader with the Dolphins, Saint Anselm is scheduled to play its first Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division series of the season, coming against the Penmen, starting on Friday, Mar. 31 through Sunday, Apr. 2.
The Penmen dropped three-of-four games to Goldey-Beacom between Mar. 17 and Mar. 18. Southern New Hampshire took game one by a 4-3 score before falling by 7-4, 6-4, and 7-6 scores to close the weekend series. Southern New Hampshire is receiving votes in both the most recent National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II National Poll and in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Poll.
The Dolphins opened a four-game series with Seton Hill with a 3-2 win but fell in each of the next three games by 3-2, 5-0, and 5-4 scores. The team sits at 9-11 on the season and will play a four-game series against Franklin Pierce between Friday, Mar. 31 through Sun. Apr. 2 before opening NE10 play against Southern Connecticut State the following weekend, after the twinbill with the Hawks.
HAWKS NOTES
- Junior Richie Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) posted four hits in seven at-bats in the doubleheader against Saint Rose, which was a team-high. Williams currently leads the Hawks a .280 batting average and is one of eight student-athletes with double-digit hits this season.
- Sophomore Daniel Scolaro (Quincy, Mass.) and senior Matt Collins (Beverly, Mass.) are tied for the Hawks lead with 15 hits apiece through 18 games in 2023.
- Scolaro, Collins, and senior Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) have recorded five doubles each, which are the most on the squad.
- Pierro needs just five hits to reach the 100-career hits mark in his time on the Hilltop.
- Senior Will Panarello (Barrington, R.I.) leads Saint Anselm with three home runs and 11 runs batted in. Panarello has collected 10 hits through 18 games played with six of those hits going for extra bases.
- Junior Dallas Vaughan (Haverhill, Mass.) leads the squad with six starts this season. Vaughan owns a 6.54 earned-run average in a team-high 31.2 innings pitched. Vaughan has fanned 34 batters this season which leads the NE10.
- Sophomore Adam Betty (Lowell, Mass.) has made five starts while senior Avery Mosseau (Bedford, N.H.) has made four.
- Senior Taylor French (Goffstown, N.H.) has made seven appearances, all in relief, for the Hawks this season. French has struck out nine batters in nine innings of work and has collected two saves in 2023.
- The Hawks defense owns a .950 fielding percentage. The team has committed 30 errors in 601 chances.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
- Nick Schwartz leads the Penmen offense with a .414 batting average, registering 24 hits in 58 at-bats. Schwartz is tied with Mike LaRocca for the team-lead with three home runs this season.
- LaRocca has posted 26 hits, six of which have been doubles, and has driven in 21 runs. LaRocca leads the squad in all three of those metrics. His 21 RBIs are third most in the NE10.
- Cam Caraher and Danniel Rivera own batting averages of .344 and .343 respectively this season. The duo joins Schwartz and LaRocca with 20 or more hits in 2023.
- Jeffrey Praml is fifth in the NE10 in ERA (1.69) and tied for second in wins (4). Praml was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Praml is 4-1 in five starts, totaling a team-high 32.0 innings pitched.
- George Welch has made four starts and has struck out 31 batters which is second most in the NE10. Josh Roberge has also made five starts for the Penmen this season.
- The Penmen have committed just 16 errors in 608 chances, good for a .974 fielding percentage.
SCOUTING LE MOYNE
- Brody Keneston leads the team with a .292 batting average this season. Keneston has registered 14 hits and 15 RBIs this season, ranking fifth and second on the team in those categories.
- Dewey Roden has registered a team-high 22 hits and 16 RBIs. Roden has recorded five doubles and three home runs, both of which are tied for the top spot on the roster.
- Eight Le Moyne student-athletes have posted double-digit hits this season with four Dolphins sitting at 10 or more runs batted in.
- Jordan Goldmann leads the pitching staff with five games started this season. Goldmann has totaled 26.0 innings pitched and has struck out 22 batters. He holds a 1-2 record with a 4.85 ERA.
- Jed Boyle and Eric Swiencicki have made a team-high six appearances this season, all coming out of the bullpen.
- The Le Moyne defense sits at a .960 fielding percentage, committing 27 errors in 677 chances.
ALL-TIME vs. SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE, LE MOYNE
- The Hawks and Penmen have met 139 times in the all-time series. Southern New Hampshire holds an 87-52 record in the series.
- Saint Anselm and Southern New Hampshire played six times in 2022. The Penmen took game one by a 10-5 score before posting a 9-8 win in extra innings on Apr. 7. The Hawks responded with 13-11 and 11-8 wins on Apr. 8 and Apr. 10 before Southern New Hampshire took a 3-2 lead in the series with a 5-3 win, also on Apr. 10.
- Southern New Hampshire eliminated Saint Anselm from the NE10 postseason with a 14-2 win on May 10, wrapping up the six-game series.
- The Hawks and Dolphins have played just eight times in the all-time series. Le Moyne is 5-3 against Saint Anselm in baseball.
- The sides last met on Feb. 18, 2018 in a neutral site game from Holly Springs, N.C. The Dolphins took that meeting by a 7-0 score, extending their current win streak over the Hawks to five games.
