Men's Cross Country Finishes in 9th Place at NE10 Championship

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team finished in 9th place at the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Championship at Stanley Park on Sunday. The Hawks ended the meet with 196 points to finish ahead of American International College and were just three points shy of Saint Michael's College in 10th place with 193 points.

  • The Hawks will prepare for the 2023 NCAA Division II East Region Championship taking place on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Hopkinton, N.H.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.) led the pack for the men's team securing 25th place after clocking in at 26:43.20. This marked both his best career finish at the championship as well as the best individual performance for the Hawks during head coach Brian Stankiewicz's tenure. 
  • Junior Steven Cormier (Reading, Mass.) crossed the finish line in 27:09.10, good for 37th place, while freshman Adam Holodowski (Milford, N.H.) followed in 44th place with a time of 27:17.00. 
  • Finishing in 51st place for the Hawks was sophomore Andrew Keene (Kennebunk, Maine) posting an 8K time of 27:28.30. 
  • Sophomore Neil Harrington (Malden, Mass.) rounded out the top-five for Saint Anselm clocking in at 27:41.30 which was good for 56th place. 
  • Seniors Tyler Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) and Josh Nottebart (Pelham, N.H.) finished in 59th and 60th place, respectively. 
  • Cracking the top-75 was senior Trevor Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) and graduate student Alex Horan (Clifton, Va.). 
  • Rounding out for the championship for Saint Anselm was senior Adam Wong (Westminster, Mass.), freshman Clifford Teixeira (Nashua, N.H.), senior Patrick Kennedy (Milton, Mass.), sophomore Brandon LeBlanc (Wrentham, Mass.), and sophomore Christian Wetzel (Pembroke, Mass.). 
HAWKS SPOTLIGHT:
  • "I'm extremely proud of how our team performed today," said senior Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.). "We didn't finish as high as we wanted but we have so much to be happy about. We had people step up when we really needed them to. It was an emotional day for us seniors. These guys have turned into my brothers for life. It's been an epic season but the job is not finished. Regionals is our chance to finish the season strong and I know we will."
COACH'S CORNER:
  • "Both teams ran very well and I've never seen such a close and competitive conference meet," said head coach Brian Stankiewicz. "We're close to our goals, and have one more chance to achieve them."
