HUDSON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's golf team sits in seventh after day one of the Franklin Pierce University Fall Women's Invitational from Green Meadow Golf Club.
The Hawks posted a team score of 354 which trails Assumption for sixth by 18 shots. The host Ravens lead after the opening 18 holes as they turned in a combined score of 14-over, good for a score of 294. They lead Stonehill College by eight shots while Adelphi University rounds out the top-three at 40-over with a team score of 320.
Erika Fuentes from the College of Saint Rose and
Phisonlaya Ruayruen from Franklin Pierce are tied for the individual lead for the invitational at one-over. Both student-athletes turned in scores of 71 on Sunday.
The teams will conclude play at Green Meadow on the Prairie Course on Monday, Sept. 26 with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
Freshman
Lydia Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) led the Hawks on day one with an 11-over 81, marking the best round of her collegiate career. Tufts led Saint Anselm in par three scoring at one-over and was tied for the team lead with seven pars on the day. Tufts is tied for 18th entering day two of the invitational.
Sophomore
Nicole Butkus (North Hampton, N.H.) carded a 16-over 86 which is good for a tie for 29th individually and was second on the Hawks on Sunday. Butkus was tied with Tufts for the team-lead at seven pars in the round.
Freshman
Alora Assad (East Longmeadow, Mass.) turned in a 90 on Sunday which was third best for Saint Anselm and tied for 40th on the individual leaderboard. Assad was the lone Saint Anselm student-athlete to have a birdie on the card on day one.
Senior
Annabelle Smith (Paxton, Mass.) rounded out the Hawks competitors on Sunday and turned in a 97, good for a tie for 47th when compared to the rest of the field.
