The Hawks opened their four-game series with a win but dropped the final three games of the series to regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University on Apr. 15 and Apr. 16, pushing their record to 14-20 overall and 7-9 in conference contests. Saint Anselm hosts Stonehill College, after the pair of doubleheaders with Saint Michael's, in a four-game series on Friday, Friday, Apr. 29, Saturday, Apr. 30, and Sunday, May 1 to conclude the team's conference slate.
After taking both games of a doubleheader from Stonehill on Apr. 3, the Purple Knights have dropped seven consecutive contests to push their record to 3-20 on the season and 2-8 in NE10 Northeast Division games. Most recently, the team dropped all four-games to nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Apr. 15 and Apr. 16. After hosting the Hawks, Saint Michael's hosts Bentley University with a doubleheader to conclude the four-game series on Thursday, Apr. 28.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- The 2022 squad is the first team to reach 14 wins in a single season since the 2013 team went 18-28-1. Saint Anselm's seven conference wins are the most in a single season since 2015.
- The Hawks are also chasing history as the program currently sits on 38 home runs in 2022. Saint Anselm needs just seven more long balls to tie the program record (45), set by the 2001 squad. This season's home run total ranks second in the NE10.
- Saint Anselm has hit 20 home runs in their last eight games, going for four in one game three times. The Hawks have hit multiple homers in six of those eight contests.
- Senior Kyle Maurice (Exeter, N.H.) leads the team and ranks third in the NE10 with a .416 batting average and nine home runs.
- The senior is tied for the longest hitting streak of the season at 15 games. That is the longest streak since Tito Lluberes '14 hit safely in 18 consecutive games in 2012.
- Maurice is fourth in team annals with 19 career home runs while on the Hilltop.
- Junior Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) ranks second on the Hawks with a .345 batting average. Borrelli has posted nine doubles, a team-high four triples, and five home runs while driving in 21 runs.
- Sophomore Nolan Elmore (Brentwood, N.H.) is second on the team with seven home runs and 28 runs batted in, trailing only Maurice's 33 runs batted in. Elmore is slashing .252/.880/.495 this season.
- Senior Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) ranks third on the team with 23 runs batted in, part of four Hawks who have over 20 RBI this season. Pierro's batting average of .268 ranks third on the squad and his 10 doubles are tied with graduate student Salvatore Pezzolla (East Greenbush, N.Y.) for the top spot on the team.
- Junior John Donovan (Lowell, Mass.) leads the Hawks starters with nine starts this season. Freshman Adam Betty (Lowell, Mass.) and junior Dylan Bedder (New Providence, N.J.) have made eight starts each while sophomore Matthew Michel (Haverhill, Mass.) has drawn six starts.
- Betty leads the team with 40.1 innings pitched while Bedder leads the squad with 53 strikeouts, which is tied for seventh most in the NE10. Michel owns the group's lowest earned-run average at 6.04.
- Sophomore Will Hunter (Middleton, Mass.) and junior Avery Mosseau (Bedford, N.H.) have made double-digit appearances in relief this season. Hunter has a 4.82 earned-run average in 28.0 innings pitched while Mosseau sits at 6.10 in 20.2 innings of work. Mosseau ranks third on the squad with 24 strikeouts this season.
- Saint Anselm has the second best fielding percentage in the NE10 at .969, committing just 34 errors in 34 games this season.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The Purple Knights dropped all four games of the conference series to nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire on Apr. 15 and Apr. 16. The team has suffered a loss in seven-consecutive contests.
- Ulysses Luciano leads the Purple Knights with a .329 batting average, collecting 24 hits in 73 at-bats. Luciano leads Saint Michael's with 15 runs batted in. He is tied for the team lead with four doubles while leading the squad with two triples and two home runs.
- Andrew Lanthier and John Luke Ciancolo are second and third on the team with batting averages of .307 and .300. Lanthier has recorded 23 hits to rank second on the Purple Knights while Cianciolo is tied for the team lead with four doubles.
- Terrance Moynihan is tied for the Saint Michael's lead with 12 runs scored while sitting in second with 13 runs batted in.
- Sean Birch and Jared Duquette lead the Purple Knights pitching staff with seven and six starts each. Birch has recorded 34.0 innings pitched while Duquette follows closely with 32.0. Birch also leads the pitching staff with 29 strikeouts with Duquette sitting right behind at 28.
- Ozzie Rodriguez, Jarret Muzzy, and Jack Menard join Birch and Duquette with seven appearances each on the mound this season.
- Joey Hosea leads the pitchers with a 4.91 earned-run average in five appearances. Hosea has recorded 7.1 innings pitched in 2022.
- Saint Michael's has a team fielding percentage of .941. The team has made 43 errors in 534 chances.
