SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team wrapped up its season on Friday, completing day two at the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

Saint Anselm, competing in men's outdoor track & field at the NE10 championship for the first time in team history, had several notable performances in the two-day event. The women's cross country team at Saint Anselm began its two-day championship experience on Friday and will wrap up on Saturday.

"Although we fell short of scoring in the meet, it was still an incredible opportunity for our men," said Head Coach Brian Stankiewicz '17. "We are able to see how far we've come this season and learn for the future. With almost everyone returning, I am glad we got some experience racing against some of the best competition in the country.

"Our performances were solid and bode well for the cross country season in the fall," concluded Stankiewicz.

Senior Jordan Cook (Biddeford, Maine) and sophomore Alex Horan (Clifton, Va.) were the first to make history for Saint Anselm, representing the College in its first outdoor track & field event. Racing in the 10,000-meter run, Horan led Saint Anselm with a time of 34:27.69 while Cook placed 17th (35:44.44).

Freshman Trevor Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) led Saint Anselm in the 1,500-meter run on Friday, placing 13th with a time of 4:10.84. He was followed by freshman Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.) and his time of 4:15.29 and junior Cole Corcoran (Braintree, Mass.) rounded out the field of Hawks with a time of 4:22.21.

Freshmen Tyler Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.), Adam Wong (Westminster, Mass.) and Josh Nottebart (Pelham, N.H.) raced in the 5,000-meter run for Saint Anselm, with Scopelites leading Saint Anselm with a time of 16:49.71.

Sophomore Liam Reeve (Kittery, Maine) turned in a time of 2:10.15 in the 800-meter run. Reeve, Trevor Scopelites, Corcoran and Hogan raced as a foursome in the 4x400-meter relay, navigating the circuit in 3:40.83.

The lone female participant from the Hilltop on Friday was senior Gabrielle Dionne (Windham, N.H.), who placed fifth for Saint Anselm in the 10,000-meter run and earned four points for the team. Dionne and the Hawks women's program will take to the track on Saturday – a full recap of the team's NE10 performance will be published tomorrow.
