SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
  • To open the doubleheader against Assumption last time out, sophomore Brady Doran (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and senior Salvatore Pezzolla (East Greenbush, N.Y.) belted home runs over the fence in the opening inning, but Assumption controlled the remainder of the game en route to a 9-2 win.
  • Held scoreless through the first five innings of the second game against Assumption, junior Dan Baker (Reading, Mass.) slugged a three-run home run in the top of the sixth. His blast provided all of the Saint Anselm offense in game two, which the Hawks ultimately dropped, 7-3.
  • Against the Greyhounds, the Hawks pitchers combined to strike out 13 batters, but also gave up 13 walks to Assumption. In total, the Greyhounds posted 17 hits in 15 innings.
  • Saint Anselm had 12 hits against Assumption, but only plated five runs through the two games. Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) and Pezzolla set the pace with three hits apiece.
  • The threesome of Doran, Baker and Borrelli each have four home runs, tying each other for the NE10 lead in long balls. Combining for 12 home runs so far through just eight games, those three have exceeded the 37-game total for the 2019 Hawks baseball team by three.
  • The Hawks rank fifth in NCAA Division II with 2.25 home runs per game, eighth in strikeouts per nine innings (12.5) and ninth in slugging percentage (0.587).
  • Junior Kyle Maurice (Exeter, N.H.) is tied for the NE10 lead with 14 runs driven in. He set the team record with 10 runs batted in against American International on Mar. 14 and drove in two more runs against Saint Michael's on Mar. 28.
  • Senior Will Conaton (Windham, N.H.) leads the NE10 with 25 strikeouts.
  • The Hawks have stolen nine consecutive bases entering Saturday's games against Bentley.
