The Hawks fell to the sixth-seed in the NE10 standings after falling to Bentley in the regular season finale. The Hawks finished the season in a tie with Franklin Pierce and Assumption in winning percentage. However, both programs held the head-to-head tie breaker over the Hawks. Saint Anselm, who is the fourth-ranked team in the East Region according to United Soccer Coaches, enters the playoffs with a 9-5-1 record and a 7-5-1 mark in NE10 play.
The Falcons recorded a 2-1 win in the regular season finale against Saint Anselm on Nov. 3. With the win, Bentley secured the third seed for the NE10 playoffs and the ability to host a NE10 Quarterfinal match. Bentley is the sixth-ranked team in the East Region and finished the regular season with an 8-5-3 overall record and 8-4-1 in conference matches.
Saint Anselm returns to the NE10 playoffs after missing the postseason by one point in the 2019 season. The Hawks are making their third playoff appearance since the 2013 season.
Fans attending the match at the Bentley University Soccer Field are expected to familiarize themselves with Bentley's
spectator policy.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Senior Regan Pratt (Newburyport, Mass.) got the Hawks on the board in the 68th minute as she took a corner kick with her left foot and bent it into the goal, cutting the deficit to one. The Hawks could not find the equalizer, recording seven shots over the final 10 minutes of play.
- Sophomore Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.) is the team leader in goals and points with seven tallies and 16 points. In the NE10, Gotobed is tied for fourth in the conference in goals scored. Pratt is second on the team in goals with four. Four other Hawks have scored multiple goals this season and as a team, have found the back of the net 28 times on the year.
- Pratt is tied for second in the conference with six assists. Freshman Sydney Wnek (Haverhill, Mass.) has four helpers on the year while Gotobed and classmate Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.) have two assists each.
- Junior Kate Macaluso (Malverne, N.Y.) has made 55 saves in 15 starts this season. She has a 1.11 goals against average and a 0.764-save percentage.
- Saint Anselm is looking to capture its first postseason win since Oct. 24, 2006 when the Hawks downed former conference foe, UMass Lowell, who now is in the NCAA Division I ranks.
SCOUTING BENTLEY
- McKenzie Sullivan and Amanda Adriano scored goals in the 45th minute and the 56th minute, taking a 2-0 lead before Saint Anselm cut the deficit to one later in the second half. The Falcons stopped a great scoring chance for the Hawks following a service from a free kick. Saint Anselm collected a loose ball in the box and beat Kat Hassapis but a defender recorded a team save to keep the score tied at that point in the contest.
- Dana Goulet, Brooke Jones, and Sydney O'Connor have all found the back of the net five times this season while the Falcons have scored 20 goals this season.
- Andriano, Goulet, Jones, and Rebecca Nguyen are all tied with three helpers each. Eight Falcons have multiple assists this season. Goulet and Jones are tied for the team lead in points with 13 points each.
- Hassapis has started 13 matches this season and have a 0.884-save percentage and a 0.61 goals against average, allowing just eight goals all year.
- Bentley is hosting a NE10 Quarterfinals match for the second consecutive season. They downed Southern New Hampshire in the 2019 Quarterfinals before falling to Saint Rose in the semifinals.
ALL-TIME vs. BENTLEY
- This will be the 32nd meeting all-time between the Hawks and Falcons. Saint Anselm is 18-10-3 against Bentley and it's the second meeting of the season and in the last five days, as both teams closed their regular season's on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
- The last meeting was the season finale on Nov. 5, 2019, which resulted in a scoreless tie from Grappone Stadium.
- In the last 15 meetings, the Hawks are 10-3-4 and have a plus-17 goal differential, dating back to the beginning of the trend on Sept. 21, 2005.
- In the NE10 Playoffs, Saint Anselm is 7-20 all-time and has faced Bentley just one time. The Falcons won the matchup on Nov. 1, 1996.
