PREVIEW: Women's soccer to conclude home schedule against Stonehill

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Coming off a 1-0 win over No. 12 Southern New Hampshire, the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team closes out its home regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 30 by hosting Stonehill under the lights of Grappone Stadium.

The Hawks upset the 12th-ranked team nationally in Southern New Hampshire in their last match out. With the win, the Hawks have equaled the 2018 team for most conference wins in program history. Saint Anselm is guaranteed a spot in the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs after missing them in the 2019 season. The Hawks are now 9-3-1 and 7-3-1 in league matches. After hosting Stonehill from Grappone Stadium, Saint Anselm concludes its regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Bentley.

The Skyhawks fell to Adelphi on Oct. 23 in their last match. They were scheduled to host Pace on Tuesday but the match was postponed with a makeup date to be announced. On the season, Stonehill is 6-8-1 on the season with a 3-6-1 record in the NE10 play. The Skyhawks are currently scheduled to close out the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Southern Connecticut State.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
  • Sophomore Tara McCleary (Quincy, Mass.) netted her first career goal from about 20 yards out, marking the lone goal in the match against the Penmen. McCleary becomes the 12th goal scorer for Saint Anselm this season, who have found the back of the net 24 times as a team.
  • Sophomore Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.) is tied for fourth in the conference in goals with seven. Sitting in second on the team in goals is junior Grace Foley (Middleton, Mass.) with three tallies. Four other Hawks have scored twice on the season.
  • Senior Regan Pratt (Newburyport, Mass.) was credited with an assist on McCleary's goal and is back in a tie for the conference lead with six helpers on the season. Freshman Sydney Wnek (Haverhill, Mass.) is second on the team with four assists.
  • Junior Kate Macaluso (Malverne, N.Y.) has posted 20 saves in two shutouts, coming against Southern Connecticut State and Southern New Hampshire. She has now been part of six shutouts this season. Macaluso has accrued 48 saves and has a goals-against average of 0.90 and a save percentage of 0.800.
  • The Hawks are looking to lock up a home playoff match, currently sitting in third in the NE10 standings. It would be the first time since Oct. 29, 1995 that the women's soccer program would host a playoff match.
  • Saint Anselm has not played a home match at Grappone Stadium since the final match of the 2019 season. The Hawks played to a scoreless draw with Bentley.
SCOUTING STONEHILL
  • The Skyhawks are winners in three of their last five including a 1-0 win over Assumption in league matches. In the stretch, Stonehill has wins over Daemen and the University of Maine-Fort Kent.
  • Camryn Thompson has scored eight goals this season which is tied for second in the conference. Hannah Guidi and Peyton Nickerson have scored two goals each. The Skyhawks have scored 19 goals this season.
  • Leading the team in assists in Emmy Dumaresg who has three helpers on the season. Megan Giambanco has two assists while eight Skyhawks have one assist each.
  • Hanna Copley has started 13 games on the season, accumulating 47 saves with a 0.723 save percentage and a 1.41 goals-against average.
  • The Skyhawks currently sit in the 12th spot in the NE10 standings with a 0.350 win percentage.
ALL-TIME vs. STONEHILL
  • This will be the 43rd meeting all-time between the Hawks and Skyhawks. Stonehill is 19-18-5 all-time against Saint Anselm.
  • After winning six of the previous seven matchups, Saint Anselm has dropped the last two matches including the most recent meeting on Nov. 2, 2019 resulting in a 4-0 win for Stonehill from Easton, Mass.
