WINTHROP, Mass. – Following a weekend sweep of Post University, sophomore Nicola Forth of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team was named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The sophomore forward recorded her first career hat trick in the Hawks' 6-3 Friday victory over Post. Her standout offensive performance played a key role in the Hawks' offensive success this weekend as she posted four total points across the two games. She recorded three goals in Friday's 5-2 win before adding an assist in Saturday's 6-3 victory.
Of Forth's three goals in Friday's win, she scored one power play goal and completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal. She tallied 12 total shots on the weekend and maintained a +3 on-ice rating. The Schwenksville, Pa. native's offensive contributions helped the Hawks secure the weekend sweep and reclaim their position atop the NEWHA standings.
Forth and the Hawks (15-12-1, 15-6-1 NEWHA) will continue NEWHA play in Long Island, facing off against LIU (13-14-1, 11-10-1 NEWHA) on Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Northwell Health Ice Center.
