How it Happened
The Eagles took an early lead, scoring 6:03 into the opening period when Tristan Currie recorded a goal with an extra-attacker on the ice for a delayed penalty. The Hawks responded with a pair of goals to take a one-goal lead with 4:16 left before the intermission. Hunter scored the tying goal 9:06 into the period, tipping in Wilson's shot from the point off of a faceoff win. Young found the back of the net on a slapshot from the blue line to put Saint Anselm in front, 2-1.
Schneiderhan extended the Hawks' lead to 3-1 just 31 seconds into the second stanza when she finished off a nifty move by going top-shelf to extend her lead in the NEWHA goals (19) and points (36) statistical standings. The Eagles got back within one goal when Maddy Noonan turned a takeaway in the Hawks' defensive zone into a Post tally, making it 3-2 with 8:08 to play in the second.
The Hawks got back up by two in the middle of the third period when Moss buried a shot on the back-point with a helper coming from Tullo. With 2:08 left in regulation, Stirling scored the Hawks' eighth short-handed goal of the season on an empty net to seal the 5-2 victory.
