Women’s Ice Hockey Falls at LIU, 3-2 (OT)

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team fell in overtime, 3-2, to LIU in a Friday evening New England Women's Hockey Alliance clash at the Northwell Health Ice Center.

Highlights

  • Senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan, the NEWHA's leading point and goal scorer, lit the lamp with 2:17 remaining in regulation to force overtime as part of a two-point outing.
  • Sophomore Lucy DeCoteau recorded her league-leading seventh power play goal.
  • Sophomore Kismet Dogan notched one assist while putting two shots on goal.
  • Freshman Lauren Waldo blocked a team-high two shots faced.
  • Freshman Kayla Czukoski made 33 stops in net.

How it Happened

After a scoreless first period, LIU struck twice in the second to take a 2-0 lead. With 3:21 to play in the frame, DeCoteau got the Hawks on the board, scoring Saint Anselm's lone power play goal of the game, to make it 2-1 after 40 minutes.

It took 17:44 of action in the third period for the Hawks to tie it at 2-2 as Schneiderhan buried a shot from the slot to force overtime.

Eight seconds into OT, the NEWHA's reigning Defensive Player of the Month, Addison Robillard scored to end the game, giving the Sharks their second point of the game.

Saint Anselm (15-13-1, 15-6-1 NEWHA) will face off against the Sharks (14-14-1, 12-10-1 NEWHA) for the fourth and final time of the campaign on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2:00 p.m. on Long Island.
