EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team fell in the final game of its New England Women's Hockey Alliance series at LIU, 3-2 in overtime, on Saturday afternoon at the Northwell Health Ice Center.

- Junior Brenna Young and sophomore Kismet Dogan recorded the Hawks goals.
- Senior captain Brooklyn Schneiderhan and sophomore Lucy DeCoteau each notched assists.
- Sophomore Grace Stirling went 6-for-10 (60.0%) on faceoffs while DeCoteau went 16-for-27 (59.3%).
- Sophomore Justyce Ohlgren recorded a team-high nine blocked shots.
- Freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski made 51 stops in the setback, putting her over 1,000 for the season with 1,029 saves. She now sits fourth all-time in program history in saves in a career and third in saves in a single season.
- The Hawks now post an 8-16-3 record in the all-time series against the Sharks, with 12 of the 27 games being sent into overtime, including 10 of the last 15 contests.
How it Happened
Young used an incredible individual effort to score the game's first goal just 2:28 into the first frame to put the Hawks in front. Saint Anselm's lead doubled with 8:03 left before the intermission as Dogan tipped in a shot from Schneiderhan to give the Hawks a 2-0 advantage.
LIU got on the board with 45 seconds left in the second period, as Drew Dyckowski ripped a shot into the top corner on a 2-on-1 opportunity to cut the Sharks' deficit to one at the second intermission.
With 5:02 to play in regulation, LIU's Ryane Kearns scored off a defensive-zone turnover by Saint Anselm to tie the contest at 2-2 and force overtime for the second straight game between the two teams.
Dyczowski found the back of the net for the game-winner 2:23 into overtime on a 4-on-3 power play to seal the weekend sweep.

The Hawks (15-14-1, 15-8-1 NEWHA) will face off against Assumption University (14-13-3, 14-7-3 NEWHA) in a weekend home-and-home series on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14. Friday night's road contest at the Worcester Ice Center will begin at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's contest, serving as Senior Day for Saint Anselm, is slated to start at 3:00 p.m. from Sullivan Arena.
