How it Happened
Post was the first team to find the back of the net as Emma Hoen fired home a shot from the slot to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead just 3:02 into the first period. The Hawks tied things up with 9:28 to play in the frame as Hunter fired in a loose puck just outside the crease to make it 1-1. Just 2:15 later, DeCoteau recorded her sixth power play goal of the season, burying a rebound opportunity to make it 2-1. Forth recorded her first goal of the game, tucking in a backhand shot off a rebound, to extend the Hawks' lead to two goals with 1:15 left to play before the intermission.
The Eagles responded 7:32 into the second, cutting their deficit to one on a Tallulah Cameron goal. Less than a minute later, Poppleton found the back of the net on a feed from junior Hailey Tullo to once again put Saint Anselm up by a pair.
Post scored early in the third on a power play opportunity with Marley Webster finding twine to make it a one-goal game. Leading by one with under a minute to play, Forth scored a pair of goals, including an empty-netter, in the span on 13 seconds to secure the hat trick and put the game out of reach, as the Hawks held on for a 6-3 victory.
