MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski of the Saint Anselm College was listed as one of 31 goalies from across the nation on the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association's National Goalie of the Year Watch List.
The initial Watch List, which includes five netminders from the New England Women's Hockey Alliance, is comprised of those with a goals against average of 2.20 or lower or a save percentage of .923 or higher. The winner of the National Goalie of the Year will be named at the NCAA Frozen Four in March.
Czukoski has put together a stellar rookie campaign thus far through 19 games played. Her .941 save percentage ranks second in the NEWHA and sixth in the country while her 791 saves rank first in the nation and the Alliance.
The Exton, Pa. native has been racking up the in-season awards, collecting seven NEWHA weekly awards, including two Goaltender of the Week nods. Czukoski was also named the NEWHA Rookie of the Month for September/October and Goaltender of the Month in November, along with a HCA National Goaltender of the Month for November selection.
Czukoski and the Hawks are currently on top of the NEWHA standings as Saint Anselm is posting the best start to a season since 2018-19.
The Hawks (11-10-1, 11-4-1 NEWHA) will head north to South Burlington, Vt. for a weekend series against Saint Michael's College (1-19-0, 1-15-0 NEWHA) on Jan. 16 and 17. Puck drop on Friday night from Cairns Arena is set for 7:20 p.m.
